And Then There Were None was Melissa’s second show at Lee Street Theatre. She wanted to stay true to Agatha Christie’s original ending and explore the psychological thriller genre on stage. With the help of meticulous blocking, eerie lighting, a looming set, and sparse furniture, her vision had audience members on the edge of their seats with plenty of jump scares and an unexpected ending. Set in 1930s Devon, extensive research for historical accuracy was prepped before rehearsals began. While respecting the script and its author, Melissa was excited for a more diverse cast with different backgrounds and ages.
And Then There Were None was submitted to be adjudicated by the Metrolina Theatre Association and won Best Lighting Design of a Non Musical, Best Sound Design of a Non Musical, Best Set Design of a Non Musical, and was nominated for Best Overall Production of a Non Musical, and Best Actor in a Non Musical (Rod Oden as Wargrave).
