Frankenstein

Adapted By: Bo List

Written By: Mary Shelley

Frankenstein is special to Melissa not only because it got her foot in the door for professional directing, but it was also the first film project she has worked on. At the height of COVID, the board of directors at Lee Street Theatre decided Frankenstein would be performed on streaming services instead of a live audience. While missing live theatre, Melissa was excited to take on a project in a new medium. She had to be mindful about her blocking, and was able to have more intimate moments and scenes with her actors. Her concept for the show was devoted to Mary Shelley’s idea of a sci-fi horror story. Her and the executive director made the choice to film the show in black and white. This was to promote the theme of a monster movie and nod to history’s B rated horror films.
